The purse in this pattern begins with a "football" shaped base. Stitches are picked up around the base and the body of the bag is knit on a circular needle up to the top of the bag. Finished size is about 8" tall x 11.5" across the top of the bag.

You will need Worsted Weight 100% Wool Yarn, 446 yards for the bead chain handbag and 669 yards for the I-cord strap handbag. You will need US 10.5 Double Point Needles and a US 10.5, 24" Circular Needle.

You will also need a Tapestry Needle, 2 Stitch Markers, and cardboard for the bag bottom. For the chain bag you will need grommets, about 6' of bead chain, and one closure "snap" from a hardware store. For the handbag with built-in strap you wil need something for a closure. A shank button will work.

Felting supplies include a zipper-type mesh laundry bag, laundry soap and a washing machine.
