Comfy and cozy Prairie Boots will get you through the coldest winters. Turn them down for ankle length or leave them up to keep your shins warm. You don't need to seam -- just add funky buttons and they are ready to wear. Warning: it is so fun to watch them take shape on your needles that you may become addicted. But that's okay! They make great gifts.
Knit the Prairie Boots for women's shoe sizes Small (5-6.5), Medium (7-8.5), Large (9-10.5) and X-Large (11-12.5) with 250 (250, 375, 375) yards of Bulky Weight Wool in a main color and 125 yards in a contrast color (for the sole of the boot). These are featured in Lamb's Pride Bulky (85% Wool, 15% Mohair; 125yds/113g).
Suggested needles are US 9 (5.5mm) Straight or Circular Needles for the sole and two sets of US 10 (6mm) Circular Needles. You will also need 12 Buttons (6 each of two types), needle and thread to sew them on, suede soles or dots of puff paint to avoid slippery soles, and a Yarn Needle.
Skills required are knit, purl and knitting in the round on two circular needles.
