The Ella Sweater Coat for Women is the unfelted version of the little girl's Ella & The Legume Coat (inspired by The Princess & the Pea story). It is an A-line shaped coat with a bodice that sits slightly above the natural waist for a flattering, wearable silhouette that shows off most any figure to best advantage. If you need to increase the coat skirt length, the arm length, or the depth from the waist to the shoulder, there is a note in relevant sections that tells you where to add rows so the coat fits your body beautifully. This pattern is for intermediate to advanced knitters.
Knit the Ella Coat for sizes 32" (36", 40", 44", 48", 52") in one solid color with 6 (6, 7, 7, 8, 8) 250yd skeins of Shepherd's Wool by Stonehedge Fiber Mill. Knit a solid coat with a different color ruffle with 4 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6) 250yd skeins of main color and 2 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3) skeins of ruffle color. Knit a striped coat with 2 skeins of ruffle color and 1 skein (100-250yds) each of 11-12 other colors.
You will need US 9 (5.5mm) 32" (80cm) Circular Needles, US 10 (6mm) Needles for provisional cast on rows, 9 Buttons, a Tapestry Needle, a sewing needle and thread, and Stitch Markers.
