The bags in this pattern are knitted using a double strand of Cascade 220 Yarn (Worsted Weight Feltable Yarn). You begin with the bag bottom, then pick up stitches around the rectangular bottom and knit in the round from the bottom up. Knit and felt.

You will need US 11 (8mm), 24" Circular Needles.

Knit the Rather Huge Carpet Bag (finished dimensions are 13" high x 19" wide x 6" deep) with 8 skeins of Cascade 220 Yarn (Worsted Weight Feltable Yarn). To create the striped bag as pictured you will need 4 skeins of Black 8555 and 4 skeins of Dark Grey 4002. You will also need Large Purse Handles.

Knit the Medium-Sized Carpet Bag (finished dimensions are 10" high x 12" wide x 4" deep) with 4 skeins of Cascade 220 Yarn (Worsted Weight Feltable Yarn). To create the striped bag as pictured you will need 2 skeins of Bright Red 8895 and 2 skeins of Bright Burgundy 9404. You will also need Small Purse Handles.

Knit the Smallish Carpet Baguette (finished dimensions are 6" high x 11" wide x 3" deep at bottom and 1" deep at top) with 2 skeins of Cascade 220 Yarn (Worsted Weight Feltable Yarn). To create the striped bag as pictured you will need 1 skein of Light Grey 8401 and 1 skein of Natural 8010. You will also need Small Purse Handles.

For a beautifully finished bag, consider thick silk brocade, silk dupioni, or other finer fabrics.
