Poetry Collection Buttons are crafted in Brass or White Bronze. Sets of 4 enclosed in a brocade pouch are inscribed with the romantic poem Upon Julia's Clothes by Robert Herrick (1591-1674). See below.
Each button measures 2.5" (6.3cm) x 2" (5cm). Button 1 is inscribed "Whenas in silks my [lover] goes then then methinks"; button 2 is inscribed "how sweetly flows that liquefaction of her clothes"; button 3 is inscribed "And when I cast mine eye and see that brave vibration each way free"; and button 4 is inscribed "O how that glittering taketh me".
Upon Julia's Clothes
Whenas in silks my [lover] goes
Then then methinks how sweetly flows
That liquefaction of her clothes
And when I cast mine eye and see
That brave vibration each way free
O how that glittering taketh me.
