The fashion forward Silver Leaf Satchel pushes the envelope of knitting to include silver leafing the knitted felt. Borrowed from the art world, the process is simple (and so is the knitting) -- the result is couture. All the instructions and resources to bring your kntting to a new artistic level are included in the pattern. Finished size is approximately 16.5" wide x 11" tall (excluding the handles; with handles 17" tall) x 7.5" deep. Designed by Marta McCall.
Knit and felt the Silver Leaf Satchel with 1313 yards (1200 meters) of dark olive Worsted Weight Feltable Wool. (Feature in Loft Classic (100% Wool; 109 yds/100m) Dark Olive #1217 by The Skacel Collection.) Suggested needles are US 15 (10mm) 32" Circular Needles and shorter US 10.5 (6.5mm) Needles. You will also need Stitch Markers, a Tapestry Needle, a book of Composition-Leaf Silver (Mona Lisa by Houston Art & Frame), a can of Super 77 multipurpose spray adhesive by 3M, a can of silver spray paint (for painting bamboo rods), two 15" natural color bamboo rods, two 5" x 6.5" brown with silver wooden handles, 2 spools of 3/8" silver Austrian Velvet Ribbon (12 ft/spool), 43 flat square silver 10mm pearls, 2 skeins of silver/gray (not metallic) embroidery floss, 1 skein of dark olive embroidery floss, a beading needle, a sewing needle, a package of long quilter's pins, 1/4 yard of dark olive Dupioni silk to line the top 3" of the Satchel, 15" x 7" Masonite 1/8" board for the bottom of the bag for structure and stability, a disposable razor, a washing machine and a delicates bag for felting, and a lint roller.
