Cousin's Favorite Crochet Hat
Crochet this medium size adult hat using
worsted weight yarn.
Start at Crown: With an M (9 mm) Crochet
Hook (or size to obtain gauge of 3 stitches per inch), ch 3 and
join into a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
Round 1: ch 1, 8 sc in ring.
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around ‑‑ 16 sc ‑‑
mark end of round.
Round 3: *1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next
sc; rep from * around.
Round 4: *1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next
sc; rep from * around.
Round 5: *1 sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next
sc; rep from * around.
Round 6: *1 sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next
sc; rep from * around.
Round 7: *1 sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next
sc; rep from * around.
Round 8: *1 sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next
sc; rep from * around.
Round 9: *1 sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next
sc; rep from * around.
Round 10: *1 sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in next
sc; rep from * around.
54 sc total.
Work even until hat measures 7" from center
of crown.
Brim: At end of round, reverse the
direction of your work and work 1 sc in each sc until brim
measures 2.75".
(Reversing the direction of your work will create a fold for
your brim.)
Tuck in loose ends and step out in style
wearing your new hat.
