The Computer Savvy Knitter: Site Searching Tips |
|
Tip 1: Quick Find vs. Advanced Search -- Find
what you are looking for at
Dream Weaver Yarns. Our basic search feature is called
"Quick Find". Use Quick Find when you know exactly what you are
looking for. Quick Find will work well if you are looking for
items such as "scissors" or "stitch markers". Quick Find
searches the product name. If, however, you would like to see
baby and child patterns, you will yield no results when you
insert "baby and child patterns" in Quick Find. Product names
are generally very short and may not necessarily contain the key
words that you might search for. For example, a Quick Find using
the term "baby" or "child" will not bring up Berroco's wonderful
pattern book,
Bambini. This pattern book is simply called "Berroco
Bambini #235" with neither the word "baby" nor "child" in
the product name. For a pattern book such as
Bambini to appear in your search results, you would need to
use the
Advanced Search feature.
Advanced Search searches the product description as well as
the product name.
Tip 2: Search Term Separators -- In
Advanced Search, when searching for patterns for example, using the separator term "or" as opposed to "and" will yield far more results. If you search for "baby and child" the search feature will look for patterns that include both words, baby
and child, in the product descriptions. You are likely looking for patterns for baby
or child. At Dream Weaver, searching for "baby and child" will yield 52 matches; searching for "baby or child" will yield 117 matches. In addition,
when using
Advanced Search, narrow your search by selecting a category such as "patterns", otherwise yarns such as Tahki's Baby Tweed and
Filatura's Zarella Baby will show up in your search for baby patterns.
Tip 3: Singular vs. Plural -- Tend toward using the singular search term, rather than the plural. This will likely yield more results. At Dream Weaver if you do an
Advanced Search for "babies" in the category "patterns", you will yield 63 matches; if you search for "baby" in the category "patterns", you will yield 89 matches.
Tip 4: The Easiest Way to Browse? -- Review our Categories list! There you will find all of our products already sorted in popular groups. In the Categories list (which appears on the top left of your computer screen
while shopping at
DreamWeaverYarns.com), select
Patterns,
By Type, and you will see all of our patterns grouped for
Babies,
Children,
Teens,
Men,
Women,
Home,

Lingerie. In
